MARK: If you read my staff bio in the face of the magazine, you might’ve noticed racing is not listed as common of my favorite genres, nevertheless Ridge Racer is on my Now Playing list. That about substances up my review right there—this is a polished, well-balanced game smooth non-gearheads will love.

For starters, Ridge Racer contemplates better than any launch game has a right to. The sharp, incredibly detailed graphics (helicopters burst by, flashbulbs go off in the stands, disheartens graze on the side of the road) glide at smoothly, even at the incredible make hastes of the later cars. nevertheless this is much more than a visual showcase for your just discovered system—Ridge Racer has the gameplay religiouss Control (on the D-pad at least) is tight and responsive; bumping other cars and the side of the track is just right, not too harsh or too forgiving; and the essential skill of drifting around corners is painless to learn moreover with subtleties (and three different car/drift types) that take time to master. Ridge Racer may start not upon way too easy and learn abruptly tough with the 1-on-1 racing affair of honors but unlockable cars and the large number of first-rate tracks will keep you behind the wheel.

JOHN R: After 2003’ utterly atrocious R: Racing Evolution, I’d moderately beautiful much given up on my beloved Ridge series. further lo and behold, with the birth of the PSP flows the glorious rebirth of the same of the greatest arcade racing franchises of all time, and to say I’m thrilled would be the understatement of the year. Ridge PSP marks a triumphant reply to form for the series; the drift mechanics have been completely restored, resulting in a racing game that shows 100 percent adrenaline-fueled, arcade-style pleasantry The track selection is highly deserving the number of cars and races is staggering, and the visuals and music are top-notch. This is the reason I bought a PSP and it’s the reason you should too. Oh and I’m analog all the way—the D-pad is for babies.

OFFICIAL P MAG—GIANCARLO: maledict you, Namco! Just as I was coming to grips with the fact that there hasn’t been a real Ridge Racer game since the launch of the PS2 you have to pass and release what essentially amounts to each Ridge Racer fan’s dream—a collection of tracks from each game. These old courses are not sole still incredibly fun to race in succession but they also hold up well with the fresh drifting boost feature, which gives added incentive to complete your drifting skills. Of course, the main single-player degree will just keep you glu to the PSP in general as you prove to unlock new cars and circuits, yet multiplayer is also just a total blast to play. My barely complaint is that races fall of the curtain shortly after the winner crosse the finish line, denying other racers any chance to prevail upon up. That’s hardly fair to the dowdys battling for third.
